Disability Assist Dogs

Disability Assist Dogs can be trained to mitigate the circumstances of a variety of medically diagnosed conditions.

Perfect Partners is initially focused on training Disability Assist Dogs for people who are not covered by the existing Disability Assist Dog organisations with an emphasis on:

  1. · Autism Disability Assist Dogs
  2. · Neurological Disability Assist Dogs
  3. · Psychiatric Disability Assist Dogs
  4. · Seizure Alert Disability Assist Dogs
  5. · Seizure Response Disability Assist Dogs


Disability Assist Dogs are trained to meet the specific needs of their handler, and can be trained to perform a variety of specialised tasks. Tasks may be simple or complex, depending on the individual needs of their handlers. Disability Assist Dogs can:

  1. · Provide balance support for people with neurological or psychiatric conditions
  2. · Interrupt stimming behaviours in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  3. · Act as a social bridge between the person with a disability and their community
  4. · Open and close doors, cupboards, and fridges
  5. · Turn light switches on and off
  6. · Load and unload clothing from a washing machine or drier
  7. · Retrieve medication, a phone, or other items on command
  8. · Lead the handler to a safe location during an attack or prior to a seizure
  9. · Lead a disorientated person to a named location or person
  10. · Bark on command to summon assistance
